Granite Plinths
Synthetic granite blocks are used to dampen environmental vibrations and provide stability. Typical applications include reducing the vibration of beamline optics and experimental endstations.
Synthetic granite has improved vibration properties over natural granite and has high thermal stability. The blocks dampen vibration much faster than cast iron and steel because of their higher dynamic stiffness.
The blocks are available either as standard mirror or DCM mounting blocks, or moulded to specific requirements.
Cast-in features can include threaded inserts, lifting eyes, mounting plates and brackets, slideways, clearance holes, and pipes. Features and surfaces can be ground onto blocks after casting.
