The S100 provides a simple method of connecting a RS-232 device to a fibre-optic communications loop. It allows devices with different baud rates to be present on the same loop and independently addressable. Data transfer is possible via fast serial fibre optic. Fibre optic loop controller modules are available to connect multiple devices to a single Ethernet port. DLLs are provided for Windows™ systems and Labview™. The embedded software can be updated via the serial interface. The S100 complies with EN61010-1:2001 electrical safety and CE standards
Features

  • Simple interfacing of existing RS-232 devices to a fibre-optic communication loop
  • Compact size allows convenient location close to the device
  • Standard D9 serial port
  • Makes the RS-232 device Independently addressable over fibre-optic loop
  • Allows different baud rate serial devices to be present on the same loop.
  • Customisable to allow local control of serial devices

Applications

  • Connecting any device with a RS-232 serial interfaces to fibre-optic loop systems
  • Allowing legacy serial devices to operate in a multidrop environment
  • Communication with RS-232 devices over high-voltage gaps
  • Enhancement of existing RS-232 devices by adding local intelligence, such as data buffering, filtering and scaling, controlled startups and shutdown, interlocking
